Harold Steinke Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 1, 2024.
Harold D. Steinke, of Chicago, entered into God's kingdom on March 31, 2023. He was born July 10, 1944, to Charlotte and Harold L. Steinke.

Hal reveled in the joys of life, cherished his family deeply, and lived by his faith. He remains fond in our memories and is greatly missed.

Hal was a cherished father to Nick and the late Zachary, devoted partner to Diane, brother to the late Thomas, and a beloved bar owner whose patrons were a community life-long friends. Known for his signature ponytail and classic tastes, from country music to cruising in his Cadillac, Hal had wide-ranging knowledge and wisdom he shared freely. From a very young age, Hal demonstrated a keen savvy for business, which evolved into his entrepreneurial ventures as he grew older.

Hal was a steadfast presence, always there for family gatherings, holidays, and 4th of July barbecues. This past Thanksgiving, our table felt the absence of his grace and spirit of gratitude, and we will always hear the echo of his voice in our future family traditions.

Hal's fondness for scotch and the laughter he shared with his brother Tom linger in our hearts. Hal shared a bond that was forged in the summers of their youth on the family farm in Minnesota. Hal and Tom learned the values of hard work, the importance of family, and the simple pleasures of life. Their brotherly bond was something we all held dear, often shared through stories and laughter that carried on into the night.

As we reflect on Hal's life, we take solace in the belief that he rests now with God and his son Zachary and brother Tom. Though he is no longer with us, we will hold onto the love he shared.

Hal touched so many lives with his innate ability to connect with people. He was the consummate consumer with his due diligence on any subject or product. He never turned down a request to compose a special prayer or speech to honor a friend or family member and delivered it eloquently. His words always reflected so much love thought and sincerity. We all miss Hal very much but it's impossible not to smile when we think of him.So thankful for all the fun times we had together

It was fun to talk to Hal. I could always count on Him for helpful hints and excellent shopping tips. But more important always there when you needed him. Miss you.
