December 10, 1937 - July 13, 2025

Harold Thompson of Canal Fulton, Ohio passed away peacefully at Cleveland Clinic Akron General on Sunday, July 13 at the age of 87.

Born on December 10, 1937 in Wadsworth, Ohio, he was the youngest of Lee and Myrtle Thompson's eight children.

He is survived by his loving wife Donna (Holla) Thompson. They would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary next month.

Harold spent his adult life in the Jackson Township and Canal Fulton area. A skilled and hardworking carpenter, he started his career for a private construction contractor before retiring after nearly four decades with Hammond Construction.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his children: Cindy (Dale) McDaniel of Indio, Calif.; Kathy Herman of Akron, Ohio; Andy Baker (David Vail) of Chicago; Debbie (Pete) Fierle of Chicago; and Dennis (Pam) Thompson of Fishers, Ind.

Harold was loved, adored, and is survived by his grandchildren: Katlin, Christy, David, Ben, Hannah, Jake, Emma, and Cooper; 11 great grandchildren, several sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Blessed with a deep love of family, wry sense of humor, and enjoyment of the outdoors, Harold could often be found in his workshop usually making unique woodwork creations for family and friends. When not there, he would be tinkering with anything that needed fixed whether in his home or elsewhere. He loved following sports especially high school football, the Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Guardians. He left this earth with the start of a Guardians win on in the background.

He was preceded in death by his parents and all seven siblings: Francis, Nola, Henry, Winnie, Bill, Bob, and Dick.

His giving and kind nature lives on through his generosity as an organ donor.

Donations in his honor may be made to Akron Children's Foundation, One Perkins Square, Akron, Ohio 44308.

A private family celebration of life gathering will be held at a future date.
