I just discovered this page while hunting for EHS '73 graduates. Damn it, Hal, you left too soon! We had a lot of arguments to finish -- "hey, no fair!" as he would cry out.

Hal and I were friends from jr. high on. I introduced him to computers, model rocketry, and Stevens Tech, and he took off like the proverbial rocket (heh) in each case. I visited him and his gang at Stevens many times during college, including the memorable mid 70's Star Trek conventions where we made and sold ascii-art printouts of spaceships.

I last got to see him on a wanderjahr in 2015. Still loving and overly generous, but still too stubborn to hold still and look inside himself.

When Hal & I were in jr. high and big math nerds, he used to speculate, with that twinkle in his eye (that meant he might be serious, or he might not, you could never tell) that, since he was born 29 days after Albert Einstein died, maybe he was Albert's reincarnation?

I can imagine the two of them arguing, right now, about the "Old Man" and the math behind the universe.

If any of Hal's family want to pick my brains for memories or stories, feel free to reach out to me at croth at thedance dot net.

(The pic below is from 1969, Hal's on the right, I'm on the left.)

Met Hal singing barbershop in Somerville. We had a lot in common. Didn't know him as well as I would have liked.

I am so very sad to learn that Harold has passed. We were buddies in high school and fiercely opposed Facebook friends who battled politically with great heart. Hal was so intelligent, informed, and passionate. I offer my deepest sympathy to his family and friends. May he Rest In Peace.

i have known Hal for long time and hardly ever seen him but when i did it was a pleasure seeing Hal. To me he was a really good person and did things to help his family in his way, I remember all the time that his sister Holly spoke about him and was always there to advise her in whatever she needed to know. I am so sad that he is gone very young God will bless him with a long and peaceful life in heaven and he will be watching over his family and siblings.
R.I.P Hal
