Harris Yulin, a veteran actor whose work included appearances in "Scarface," "Training Day," "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," and many others, died June 10, 2025, of cardiac arrest in New York City at the age of 87.
Spanning nearly 150 roles from 1970 to 2024, Yulin's work never made him a household name, yet it earned him an Emmy Award nomination in 1996 for his appearance on the sitcom "Frasier," and made him recognizable to film buffs and television fans across several generations. In addition to landmarks like "Scarface" and "Training Day," Yulin was in movies such as "Ghostbusters II," "Clear and Present Danger," and "The Million Dollar Hotel." Perhaps more prominent was his television work, which included popular shows of several eras: "Kojak" and "Little House on the Prairie" in the 1970s, "Cagney & Lacey" in the 1980s, "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" in the 1990s, and in the 21st Century, "The X-Files," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Law & Order," "Veep," "Ozark," and many others. He was also a well-traveled stage actor, performing in Ireland and on Broadway in productions of "The Diary of Anne Frank," "Death of a Salesman," and others.
A fan of his work, Val, aka user VK_HM on the social media platform X, praised his acting: "I had the good fortune to see him once playing the lead role of Death of A Salesman (which he did brilliantly) but, for me, Harris Yulin will always be Aamin Marritza from the Deep Space Nine episode 'Duet.' It has in the past moved me to tears. RIP."

I knew Harris only through his work in film. Specifically Clear and Present Danger where he portrayed the Chief of Staff alongside David Moffett. Excellent actor.
