Dear Mrs. Caldwell (Deane): Janet and I express our deepest condolences and regards to you and your family on the passing of Captain Caldwell. I was your husband's lead yeoman in 1970-71 at London. Because of him, I completed college;obtained my Navy commission; flew jets; became a lawyer; retired from the U.S. Navy and later civilian government service. We have many fond memories of our earlier Navy days and of you and your husband. May God bless you, now and always. Karl "Vin" and Janet Cozad.

To the Caldwell Family,
Doug, our sincerest sympathies on the loss of your dad. I remember enjoying conversation with Harry, when we were guests at your cabin. One would never have guessed the extent of this man's achievements based on his humble and friendly demeanor. It was our pleasure to have met such a man. Our prayers and thoughts go out to you all.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. My mom told me of Harry's passing and she just wanted to talk about the good times - all of the hikes and trips to Europe. Harry is fondly remembered by our family.

To the Caldwell Family,

My sincerest condolences on your loss. Although I never new Captain Caldwell personally, he was a member of U.S. SUBMARINE VETERANS Groton Base when I was the Base Commander. He was a Life Member of our organization and a member of the prestigious HOLLAND CLUB recognizing over 50 years of being Qualified in Submarines.

He was a Brother of the Phin and no doubt a proud American who served his country in the U.S. Navy.

We share your loss.

There is a port of no return where ships may ride at anchor for a little space. And then some starless night a cable slips leaving only an eddy at the mooring place. Gulls vear no longer, Sailor rest your oar. No tangled wreckage shall be washed ashore.

HAND SALUTE!
Captain Harry Caldwell. . . .
REST YOUR OAR!

To My friends and the Caldwell Family,
It is with deepest regret to learn of Captain Caldwell passing. The Caldwell’s have the most sincere condolences of the Young’s Family, Fred and Penny Young. It was my pleasure to have served on the USS Spikefish (SS404) during Captain Caldwell's command. Our most sincere sympathy goes out to his beloved wife, Deannie, of 60 years which we had the pleasure of knowing and for her advice while serving under Captain Caldwell. He was a gentleman’s gentleman and his advice, guidance and leadership will be sorely missed by all of us who knew, prospered and respected his guidance. May he find everlasting peace on his eternal patrol. Smooth sailing Captain! Fred and Penny Young

As with many individuals who have placed a sincere and profound influence upon the world and those around them, Harry was a humble man. He was kind and wise, and ever a gentleman's gentleman. I thank Heaven for his wonderful life. We will miss being with him.
