Harry Haldeman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 18, 2015.
Harry Paul Haldeman (Age 65)
Of Fairfax Station, Virginia, passed away on June 13th, 2015, at his home. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Katherine. Devoted father of Lauren (Ben Fortune) and James (Sally), and was predeceased by his son, Ryan. He is also survived by his brother, Cliff (Laurie), and his granddaughter, Ellie Fortune. A visitation will be held, on Sunday, June 28 at Burke United Methodist Church, 6200 Burke Centre Pkwy, Burke, Virginia at 2pm followed by a Celebration of his Life at 3pm. Interment will be private.

Paul Haldeman lived a life of radiant kindness, experiencing the world with an active and joyful interest in the myriad wonder that surrounded him. He was an avid enthusiast of trains, baseball, spontaneous adventures, food, and his family -- he passed this exuberance on to everyone he met. It was said that he was "always generous" with his smile, which "lit up the room". This is an understatement; his smile was a symbol of the warm, open, brave trust that he had in the goodness and potential that he saw in all people --he was always striving to help people see these things in themselves as well.

This inborn talent transferred brilliantly to his vocation -- he acted as a key communicator and system analyst for several companies in the Washington, D.C. area, including Children's Hospital, SRA, Galaxy Scientific, Marriot, Coopers & Lybrand, as well as Ernst & Young. He was also a lifelong member of his church, contributing to the faith community there in many ways -- through participating in the choir & planning committees, teaching Sunday School & leading youth retreats. He attended faithfully, providing his family with the priceless gift of spirituality and connection.

I knew Paul from Galaxy and found him to be such a sweet, kind man. It was always a pleasure to work with him or just sit and chat. He spoke so lovingly of his family. My deepest sympathies go to all of you. He is at peace now with the Lord. God bless you.

Paul was the best catcher a pitcher would want. I knew Paul, Mom, and Dad in P'ville with the Mighty Mites. Mr. Haldeman and my Dad were coaches also in Linwood. I remember my Dad telling me that one time he had to umpire and Paul said, "Mr. Miller, when Steve throws a curve ball, make sure you watch it all the way in, cause its going to look like a ball, but will end up a strike! I have great memories of Paul. Thanks, Steve & Evangeline Miller, La Mesa, CA

Rest well my lifelong friend. You have earned your reward and though I will miss you dearly, I know now that you are truly happier than we can ever imagine. I am sure than you were met with kisses and a hugs from Ryan and my Beth and that they will help guide you through the gates of heaven. I am also certain that somewhere in your hereafter if a baseball diamond for your pleasure. I love you my friend and hope to see you again.

I grew up in Linwood, NJ with Paul. I remember him from 8th grade on...he was always such fun. In 8th grade, he and I made monkey sounds together and whenever we saw each other later in life we would make our monkey sounds!! He will be greatly missed by all of his friends who looked forward to seeing Paul at our class reunions. I know you are lighting up the rooms in Heaven!!
