Harry James Sr

Harry James Sr., 80, of Lakewood, CO, passed away on June 28, 2023. Born on March 21, 1943, in Orangeburg, SC, Harry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Harry was a man of endless curiosity and determination. He served two tours in Vietnam, an experience that shaped his perspective on life. While in the service, Harry graduated with a degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland. He then embarked on a successful career as a Management and Contract Analyst for the Federal Government before retiring.

Traveling was one of Harry's passions, and he had the opportunity to explore many international destinations during his time in the military and after retirement. However, it was Colorado that captured his heart. In later years, he purchased a farm and became a dedicated beekeeper. Through beekeeping, Harry found joy in educating others about the importance of bees in our daily lives.

Above all, Harry cherished spending time with his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Holly Arnett-James and her sons Erik Arnett and Jarrett Arnett-Ryan, as well as his sister Elandres Williams (James), son Harry James Jr. (Elisabeth), son Julian James (Dawn), daughter Gail James-Quinn (Nicholas), son Eric James, and daughter Annette James and granddaughter, Rayven Irons.

Harry will be fondly remembered by his grandsons: Brandon Irons, Jesse James, Darrien Quinn, Ryan Quinn, Drayson Quinn, Christopher Arnett, and Jaxon Arnett. Additionally, he will be missed by his granddaughters Victoria James, Carolina James, Lily Arnett, Deonna Arnett, and Rylee Arnett.

Harry was preceded in death by his father Ashbia James, mother Minnie Lee James (Pressley), his first wife Joyce James (Bailey), his brother-in-law John A. Williams, and his brother Robert James.

A Celebration of Life is planned on August 22 at 10:45 a.m. directly after the Military Funeral Service. It will be held at the Beach House on Prospect Lake at Memorial Park, 619 Prospect Lake Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to any education fund of your choice in honor of Harry's passion for learning and achievement.

Harry James Sr. will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of optimism, determination, and love for his family will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
