June Tonigan Obituary

June P. Tonigan, 78 years old, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, died peacefully at her home on February 24th. June was born on May 18, 1928 in Waukegan to Elsa and Philip Erikson. She married Dr. Richard Tonigan in Waukegan in 1952. They lived on the East coast, the Midwest and have resided in New Mexico since 1967.

June was involved and supported the civic efforts of the Cosmopolitan Club, the Assistance League, the public library system, the Mountainside YMCA, the Mile High Optimist Club and was an active P.E.O. member in NY and NM for over 50 years. She also served on the Board of Directors of Richard F. Tonigan and Assoc., an educational consultant firm.

June is survived by her husband Richard, two sons, Eric Tonigan D.D.S. (Diane) and Scott Tonigan Ph.D. (Radka Toscova Ph.D.), both of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Jacqueline, Alexandra, Andrew, Sarah Tonigan, and Miranda Katz and daughter; two sisters, twin Maya (May) Peterson and Gladys Dahl.

A memorial celebration of June's life will be held Saturday, March 10th in Albuquerque, NM. Memorials may be made to the P.E.O. supported Coltey College, 1000 Austin Blvd., Nevada, MO 64772. Gladys,
My sympathies to you for the loss of your sister. With delight I remember growing up at Immanuel and knowing the twins, May and June, the much older than I, beautiful blond sisters. How fortunate you are to have had her all these years. I lost Merilyn when I was only 19. You are all fondly remembered.
