HARRY KIM "THE BULLDOG"
Age 61, of Upper St. Clair, formerly of Dormont, peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014, surrounded by his loved ones at home. Beloved husband and high school sweetheart to Elaine (Pernicano) Sappas for 39 years; loving father of Stephanie Sappas and Dean (Michelle McClellan) Sappas; son of the late Kim and Dionysia Sappas; caring brother of Maria (Harry) Hanna and James Sappas; son-in-law of George and Lois Pernicano; Nuno to Alexander Hanna. Harry is also survived by his two bull dogs, Otis and Tily; and by many additional supportive family and friends. He was a graduate from Keystone Oaks High School and Penn State University. Harry was a very hard worker, being able to establish his own contracting business, Bulldog Coating Specialists. He was very proud of obtaining his black belt in Tang Soo Do Karate. Harry loved all animals and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a lifelong member of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church. As a pillar of the church, he was given the title "The Keeper of the Faith". Harry was an integral part in the life and purpose of the church. Most of all, Harry will be remembered for his sense of humor, giving second chances, and helping others through difficult times. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS. Friends and family will be welcome at 2828 Washington Rd., McMurray, 724-941-3211 on Wednesday and Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., where a Trisagion Service will be held Thursday 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be held in Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 123 Gilkeson Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15228, on Friday 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Liturgy at 11 a.m. Interment Jefferson Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, Agape Fund or the Humane Society. Please add or view tributes at:

Dear Elaine, What a pleasant surprise it was to see Harry's smiling face on our computer screen this morning. We will always remember him and his kind ways with much affection. It was a joy to see Dean and his beautiful family in church on Sunday. This is a wonderful legacy that Harry has granted to our world.

I had the pleasure of working with and "educating" Harry. As I was planning my wedding on July 5, Harry provided me with stories of his love for his wife and his family. In these moments of grief and those that will come, please take some comfort in knowing that his family was his all. I may have only spoken with him a handful of times but I will always remember him.

I was Harry's massage therapist. He was truly my favorite person in the world. He was like a surrogate father to me. With his words of wisdom and his amazing advice Harry brought happiness to my life every time I saw him. He was an amazingly smart, kind, generous and funny man who loved his family more than life itself. He is already deeply missed. My prayers are w/ all of the family and I'm so sorry for your loss.

I knew Harry through the martial arts school he trained in. He was a very friendly and humble person. He and I shared the common interest of tang soo do. He was one of the most committed practitioners of the art. he once traveled to Orlando, FL just to attend and support friends at the world tang soo do tournament. I will miss his friendship and his infectious smile.
