Harry Hall Stevens, 88, passed away on December 23, 2016. He was born on January 8, 1928 in Lyons, Georgia.
Harry grew up in Savannah, GA and upon joining the United States Marine Corp., he was transferred to San Fransciso. There he met and married the love of his life, Jacquelyn and moved to Mesquite when he was assigned to recruiting duty in Dallas. Harry proudly served his country for 23 years, thus earning him the name “Sarge” by all of those that knew him. He was always the life of the party, quick to joke and loved the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. Affectionately known as Grandpa and Poppy, he was a great Dad and always there for his family with a smile on his face. His family was truly his greatest pleasure.
Preceding him in death are his son, Steven Holt and his seven brothers.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Jacquelyn Stevens; children: Jeffrey Stevens, Terri Fischer and husband, Richard and Linda Speake and husband, Bill; grandchildren: Michael Stevens and wife, Brittni, Amanda Robertson and husband, Brody, Zachary Taylor, Mackenzie Speake, and Kati Wood and husband, Daniel; great-grandchildren: Logan Stevens, Morgan Stevens, Cormack Robertson, Jackson Wood and Abigail Wood; sister Emma Guyn; sister-in-law Johanna Dahlin and brother-in-law Lance Waage; a host of extended family members and friends that will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Roselawn Funeral Home, Seagoville, TX. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2016, also at Roselawn, followed by interment at Roselawn Memorial Gardens where he will be laid to rest in the Garden of Valley View.
