Dear Mr. Stewart and Family,

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Harry Stewart. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this time of loss.

I feel incredibly honored and privileged to have known Mr. Stewart, not only as a legendary Tuskegee Airman but also as an inspiring individual. Attending his 100th birthday celebration in Detroit was a moment I will forever treasure. His warmth, wisdom, and graciousness left an indelible impression on everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.

Being named an honorary member of Class 44F back in 2010 by Mr. Stewart and his remaining classmates was one of the greatest honors of my life. It connected me to a legacy of excellence, perseverance, and courage that continues to inspire me to this day. Mr. Stewart embodied these values throughout his life, and his contributions to aviation, our nation, and his community will never be forgotten.

As we reflect on his extraordinary life, I hope you find comfort in knowing the profound impact he made on countless lives, including mine. His legacy will forever soar in the hearts of those who knew him and those who continue to be inspired by the Tuskegee Airmen's story.

Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. May Mr. Stewart rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire generations to come.

With deepest sympathy,
Henderson Smith III, LtCol, USAF Ret.

Being a Retired member of the U.S. Coast Guard, I have had the pleasure of meeting a lot of WW2 Veterans from other services. A few years back, at the Airshow at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, near Detroit, I got the extreme pleasure and honor to meet Lt. Col. Harry Stewart and Lt. Col. Alexander Jefferson. It was so fantastic to spend a few minutes with them and hear of their missions during WW2. R.I.P. Lt. Col. Stewart.
