What does one say to the man that teaches you to fish, sail, cook, drive and jive? I love my grandfather for making me who I am today and who I will be able to make the next generation to come. I don't think any of us will be able to smell a cigar or the sound of LOUD jazz without seeing his smile again. Thank you for always being there for me, I love you.

Dear Stephanie and Family,
We were so sorry to hear about your father passing. Our thoughts and prayers are for all who knew, cared and loved him...more strength, more comfort.
Also, we "Thank God" for the ties that bind families and friends...With Him and Thru Him,

There are so many things I could say here, so many memories of my grandfather - who we called PaPa-T. One of them is about a music connection we had together. He was always in to Jazz, & I was baffled by it growing up. It was so noisy & busy. However I did notice that he completely lit up whenever one of his favorites came on, or when he was playing his trumpet to one of them. Much later when I was at the in the Jazz Band at the Conservatory of Music at UMKC. We had a guest musician that I knew he would love to meet. So I called PaPa-T to let him know that Paquito de Rivera was the guest artist this semester. Well, first day of rehearsal there is right there, listening to the whole thing. It gets better, afterwards I introduce the two of them & they start talking about everything. I leave them to hang out & have a good time. Later in the week it's time for my next rehearsal. Guess who comes in with Paquito de Rivera, Papa T! Turns out that they have been hanging out & talking about Jazz, cigars & women. Paquito de Rivera, was in town for about 3-4 weeks, I think every time I had rehearsal for the rest of his stay they were hanging out having a good time. It just reminds me of how warm, funny & eclectic his personality was. I will miss him greatly for memories like that one & all of the others we shared. I will always love my PaPa-T.

I will always remember Harry for his love of music and his love of dancing. I will miss the stories of his travels and his ornery behavior during band practice. These qualities were what made our Harry so unique. Rest in peace, my friend.

THE THINGS WE DIDN'T SAY
In life sometimes we find it hard
To say what's in our heart.
We have the words, and of course, intent
But lack the nerve to start.

So silently we offer love
And assume you know we care,
Until that day when darkness falls
And you're no longer there.

The words that once had lacked a voice
Have seemed to find their way,
To a home that seems so natural now
That once we held at bay.

And now you're in a special place,
Your soul has found it's way.
So listen now and you will hear
The things we didn't say.

Harry always had a smile and a hug of encouragement for me. I was about 11 when he and his family moved to Lake Forest as our next door neighbor and became family to us. He shared music, good food and the fun of sailing and fishing on the lake. He shared his love, his travels and was gracious in every way. Love you and Bye for Now! Harry also known as PaPa-T by his grandchildren could have a book written about how great of a man he was, but I will try in a paragraph.
When Harry walked in the room he always had an energy about him, he would greet everyone with an enthusiastic hello how are you and was always interested in what you had to say - never fake. Even if it was the first time you met him you would walk away from the conversation feeling that you have known him for years; always the life of the party. Harry's love for traveling and new adventures was only rivaled by his love of golf, music and the lake.
Growing up visiting him at the lake he introduced me to a lot of his hobbies that I will always be grateful for fishing, sailing, and golf. Not just how to play or fish but the right way to do them. He also introduced me one of my passions in life when he took me to my first KC Chiefs game.
As a family we always celebrated his birthday on the 4th of July, and in honor of him a new tradition that I would encourage anyone else to adopt will be to raise a good stogie and a frosty beverage along with a few words in his honor each Independence Day.
I love you PaPa-T and will never forget you.

Harry and Karen were our neighbors when we first moved into Lake of the Forest in 2000. Harry made us feel so welcome and made sure Judy and I were introduced to all the Lake members. Harry also got me involved with Men's Club and the weekly golf matches which allowed me to enjoy the Lake so much. Harry and I had a love for cigars and we would smoke them together while I listened to Harry's stories about his life and travels. Judy and I will miss him so much and there will never be another Harry.

I beleive this must be heaven on earth.

I met Harry at Millcreek Center. He played music there with the kicks band. I got the plessure of listening to that wonderful music and visiting with him every time they played. He will be missed.

I first met Harry as a member of the (then Bonner Springs) Kicks Band - 25 years ago. Harry's was a great example of a life well-lived. He enjoyed every moment of his life, and I enjoyed knowing him and being his friend. I will miss him.
