Harry Jesse Ward, 75, of Knoxville, passed away November 17, 2017. He was born in 1942 in Athens, Tennessee and resided in Knoxville for the last 40 years. Jesse was a graduate of East Tennessee State University and the ROTC program after which he served in the U.S. Army completing two tours of duty in Vietnam as a Captain. After his time in the military he spent several years working in Las Vegas before returning to Knoxville which he has always called home. Returning to Knoxville Jesse worked as an accountant in the office of Robert G. Large, CPA and ended his work career as a night security guard with the Knoxville Zoo. As many of his family and friends knew, Jesse loved animals especially his cat "Shady Lady". Jesse was always a caring man, loved his family, close friends and his church, St. Luke's United Methodist Church.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, Colonel Ben H. Ward and Dorothy (Kitty) Ward, a brother Donald G. Ward, his aunt Helen Ward Large. He is survived by his loving uncle, Robert G. Large, (who with Helen W. Large acted as a second pair of parents) his sister-in-law, Patricia N. Ward-Coleman, two nephews M. Scott and Glenn T. Ward, their wives and children.

He will surely be missed by all who knew him. Friends and family are welcome to join us in the celebration of his life at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 3839 Buffat Mill Road, Knoxville, TN, Sunday December 10th, 2017 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
