Harry Easter Weese

Hello, My name is Pamela Petty-Ekrem and my father was Wayne Petty. Uncle Harry Weese was married to my Auntie Georgia who was my dad's younger sister. I grew up in Raymond, WA and cannot remember a time during those wonderful years when Uncle Harry wasn't a major part of our lives. He was so patient and kind to all of us pesky kids and always made time to listen to us. Hunting season was the gathering place (headquarters at my folks' home on the South Fork) and though I myself have always been rather an odd duck in that I never liked the killing of animals, I remember those times as some of the best in my life. With my dad, his three brothers-in-law, sons in law along with various friends and neighbors plus all the wives and us kids...quite a big time every fall. Uncle Harry was such an interesting person and so very talented. His wood carvings were works of art. He was able to capture the beauty of a mallard duck and its mate in fine detail and carved a set for my folks as well as for my Grandma Minnie Petty. The ducks had a place of honor in their homes until they all passed away in the mid 90's. After my Auntie Georgia's death in the early 70's we were all very sad of course. After a time Uncle Harry and Maggie came to my folks' place one day and announced they had decided to marry and we were so happy for them. Knowing two friends who had known one another for so long would make a life together was good news. They visited us quite often. Uncle Harry and Maggie's Christmas card would always be the first of the season to arrive and there would always be a nice letter enclosed bringing us up to date about their lives in Idaho. He would mention Maggies nephews and nieces with such fondness. When we stopped hearing from Uncle before Maggie passed I knew his health must have been on the decline. I depended on hearing about him through my sister Donna who usually visited them in Idaho once a year. She and her husband last saw Uncle in August of last year. It was then she told me she wasn't sure if he knew her and we both knew he was very frail and ill. We all loved him and will hold him in our hearts forever. My life was blessed with a close and loving family. Harry Easter Weese played a major role.
