Hartley Hanson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 16 to May 18, 2009.
STOCKHOLM - Hartley G. Hanson, 74, died unexpectedly May 14, 2009, at his residence, as the result of an accident. He was born March 13, 1935, in Caribou, son of the late R. Lincoln and Hildur (Ostlund) Hanson. Mr. Hanson was an active member of Stockholm Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee for many years. Hartley served as the youth leader at Stockholm Boys Brigade for a number of years and also served with the Maine Army National Guard. He will be fondly remembered for his quick humor and many will miss their morning cup of coffee with him at his Stockholm garage, where he worked for many years. He married Joyce Sluka, Sept. 8, 1972. Surviving in addition to his wife of Stockholm, are his son and daughter-in-law, Erik and Sue Hanson of Caribou; one brother, Roger Hanson of Brewer; one sister, Gloria Underwood of Smyrna, Del.; four grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Friends may call noon until the time of services 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at First Baptist Church of Stockholm with the Rev. John Walsh officiating. Interment will be at New Sweden Cemetery. my family knew Hartley ever since we moved to the county. He had a kind heart and he and his wife invited us to their Thanksgiving dinner that year a memory we will never forget.
