We attended Harvey's celebration of life on Saturday. I tried to write a note but words did not come. I really wanted to say something at the mike, but I am not very good at that either, so I will write here...
I only met Harv a few short years ago, I feel like I was ripped off to not get to spend more time with him, but then I realized that I should feel fortunate to have gotten what I did, especially after seeing how many people were in attendance and how many he had impacted.
I liked him instantly.
He was a really neat person to be around, warm and caring, but not fuzzy, he had a great sense of humour and a contagious laugh. He would listen when someone was talking, and he was incredibly bright.
I feel like he lived his life to the fullest, always willing to explore and see new things, he made sure we all got to see the things we wanted on those bike trips, he would even map the sights out if need be.
Al could always count on Harv to ride, for dinner, for lunch, for breakfast or for an out of town trip. He would ask Harv first, and then post it after. Harv would ride in the rain and in the cold.
I guess if there's anything positive to take away, it's to get busy living, see what you can on your travels because who knows if you'll ever get back to those places again.
This year, when we take our ride down the Oregon coast to Reno, I am going to put my feet in the ocean and think of you Harv, we tried to find a place for me to do it last trip but it didn't happen.
To his family, I cannot even begin to imagine the hole that will be left in your world, I wish you healing thoughts.
Someone said to us on Saturday that we are really going to miss him on our bike trips, we already do.

We are saddened by the loss of Harvey. Harvey was a brother and friend to many of us as seniors that are friends and kin through our heritage of Chinatown Chin Wing Chun Tong which shared years of community and volunteer work with this beloved family. We see baby Eunice as the young sister loved by Ying Git and the entire family. Our warmest thoughts love and condolences to all family and you all including the Canadian Tire Family
