Hattie Bob Chance

JACKSONVILLE - Services for Hattie Bob Chance, 94, Jacksonville, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Autry Funeral Home chapel, Jacksonville, with Phillip Strong officiating.

Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Jacksonville.

Mrs. Chance died July 13, 2008 in Jacksonville.

She was born May 10, 1914, in Appleby to the late William Oliver "Ollie" and Sallie "Sadie" Edwina Frazer Strode. She graduated from Nacogdoches High School and lived in Nacogdoches, Houston and Jacksonville while rearing five children. She retired from Jacksonville High School cafeteria and was a member of Grand Lodge, Ladies Society, Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen, and Home Extension Service Club. She had been a member of Second Christian Church, Houston, and after moving in 1966 to Jacksonville was a member of Corinth Road Church of Christ and Southside Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Earl Chance, in 1969 and daughter, Bobbie Earl Heide, in 1992.

Survivors include daughter, Paula Thompson, Crockett; sons, Charles Chance, Jacksonville, Edwin Chance, The Woodlands, and Billy Chance, Conroe; sister, Joyce Harrington; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
