Hazel JAMISON Obituary

Published by Edmonton Journal on Dec. 28, 2011.
JAMISON, Hazel Iona
October 14, 1914 - December 24, 2011
Our beloved mother Hazel passed away peacefully on December 24, 2011.
She leaves her three daughters June McDonald, Gail Lee, and Jackie Spencer along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased this past summer by her loving and attentive husband James.
She was born and raised in old Jasper Place by Colin and Lucy Case. Hazel was an outstanding all-around athlete who won provincial Championships in golf and Canadian championships in curling. In 1933 her team won the Canadian Ladies Hockey Championship with Hazel scoring the winning goal on a solo rush. Hazel was inducted into the Edmonton Sports Hall of Fame in 1979, the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in 1980, and the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame in 1982. Hazel had a wonderful life filled with family and athletic accomplishments. Her family and many Albertans will lovingly remember her.

To the Jamison Family,

The world has lost a wonderful role model. I remember when Hazel taught us beginners at the Crestwood Curling Club. She has left an indelible mark on the lives of many. We were lucky to have her.

TO HAZEL JAMISON'S FAMILY
I SO ENJOYED KNOWING YOUR MOM. SHE WAS THE QUINTESSENTIAL LADY; AN AVID SPORTSWOMAN AND A FIERCE COMPETITOR IN HER OWN QUIET WAY. I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS LUCKY WHEN I GOT TO GOLF WITH HER ON A TUESDAY.
I HOPE THAT YOUR MEMORIES OF HER BRING SMILES AND LAUGHTER TO YOUR HEARTS

Girls and families:

It was an honour to have golfed with Hazel.
In her later years on the course, remembering to come to her aid when she was in a sand trap--by holding out a club for her to climb out.

She was a true competitor.

You were lucky to have such a wonderful Mother.
