Heather Dickau Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 15 to Feb. 17, 2006.
DICKAU _ Heather Jeanna (nee Bloom) October 3, 1936 - February 10, 2006 After a valiant fight against Ovarian Cancer, Heather passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones. Her courage in living life on her own terms was a shining example to us all and we will miss her. Beloved Wife of Marvin Dickau; Mother of Leslie Goodwin, husband David of Kelowna and Ian Dickau, wife Vera of Calgary; Grandmother to John and Richard Goodwin and Adrian and Patrick Dickau, who deeply mourn her passing, along with many relatives and a host of good friends. Heather had a passion for her family (especially her grandchildren); for travel (culminating in her life's dream of cruising the Panama Canal); for singing (she was a member of Hillhurst United Church Choir, Westside Singers and the Gaelic Choir, Togaibh i Calgaraidh); and the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank where she volunteered until she became ill. Many thanks to Doctor P. Ghatage, Glenda Mee and the nurses at Tom Baker Cancer Centre for their loving care during her illness. A celebration of Heather's life will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. in Hillhurst United Church, 1227 Kensington Close N.W. with Rev. Dr. John Pentland officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank, Ovarian Cancer Research, or Hillhurst United Church. One or the other must leave, One or the other must stay. One or the other must grieve, That is forever the way. That is the vow that was sworn, Faithful till death do us part. Braving what had to be borne, Hiding the ache in the heart. One, howsoever, adore, First must be summoned away. That is the will of the Lord, One or the other must stay. HERITAGE FAMILY FUNERAL SERVICES "Heritage Funeral Home" Telephone: 299-0100.
