Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 22 to Feb. 24, 2023.
It is with profound sadness that the family of Heather Yvonne Slivka share that she lost her battle with metastatic melanoma cancer on February 18, 2023 at the age of 48.

Heather was born on May 19, 1974. She graduated from Toms River High School North in 1992, earned a Bachelor of Science from West Virginia University in 1996, and a Master of Education at Virginia Tech in 1998. She remained at Virginia Tech through 2001, where she worked as a nationally certified athletic trainer. Heather then worked at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA as an educator and head athletic trainer for 17 years. Most recently, Heather and her husband Brandon resided in Denver, NC, and she was employed by Marpai, formally Maestro Health, as a care coordinator and certified health coach from 2018 to present.

Heather is survived by husband Brandon Partee, stepchildren Julia and Braden Partee, mother-in-law Paulette Summers, parents William and Marsha Slivka, sister and brother-in-law Jennifer and William R. Cawthorne, nephews William P. and Matthew Cawthorne, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A private remembrance celebration of Heather's life will be held by her family at a later date. Heather was the light of our lives, our very own Wonder Woman.

I´m so sorry to learn this news. I know that Heather will be sorely missed by her loving family, and all of those who enjoyed the delight of knowing her. I am proud to have served as her colleague for a number of years. She was an incredible professional, and always motivated to offer support for others around her. The memory of her positive and helpful spirit will remain forever!

Sending prayers for strength and grace. I was blessed to work with Heather at Episcopal High School. She cared deeply for students, faculty, and staff. The light in her eyes shone brightly and her spirit will always be with those she loved.

Thank you, Heather for showing me tough love when I was a student at EHS from 2007-2009. You didn't allow me to use going to the trainer as a reason for being late to practices or games. Also, you told me to "suck it up" when I was clearly being a little baby and nursing a minor injury. However, when needed, you were quick to act and care for players who had serious injuries. Our rehab programs were not complete without your stamp of approval.

God needs more trainers like you for his soldiers, which is why he called you home.

My deepest condolences to the Slivka family. Praying for your healing and strength during this difficult time.

I express my deepest condolences to all the family during this sad time. Heather´s friendship will be sorely missed and words can´t express the sorrow I feel with her gone. She will always be remembered as a kind, loving, fun, strong and beautiful friend in my life and I feel so lucky to have kept her friendship over the years. Rest in peace Wonder Woman.
