Heidi was my mentor, a member of my doctoral supervisory committee and a key influence in the formation of my identity as a science educator. She lives on in my life and teaching as I find myself using some of the very ideas, phrases, and assignments she gave me. We are poorer for her passing.

My association with Heidi was through Alan who has already written. Heidi and I shared many interests in landscape gardening with unusual and exotic plants and taking great delight at even minimal successes. Preparing gourmet meals were often a greater success! Her graduate parties were always extra special from which we have wonderful memories. Heidi obviously was a catalyst and mentor in the many ways to lead a full and interesting life! We are grateful to have shared these time together.

Had always wondered what had happened to Heidi and now seeing she passed away in Vancouver can understand. Her involvement with Edmonton science teachers, the Edmonton Regional Science Fair etc. was always appreciated.
