Helen Joy Smith Arbogast

HELEN JOY SMITH ARBOGAST, age 58 years, a resident of the Dryfork Community, departed this life Sunday, April 17, 2011 at home, surrounded by her family, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Saturday, December 20, 1952 at Harman, WV a daughter of the late Paul William Smith and Mamie Gloria Pennington Smith. On July 20, 1972 at Oakland, MD she was married to Jerry Roger Arbogast, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Jerry “Scott� Arbogast, Dryfork; one daughter, Jaime Lynette Arbogast, Elkins; six brothers, Paul Smith, Jr. and wife Barbara, Bowden; Roy Lewis Smith, Dryfork; Richard S. Smith, VA; Stanley Lee Smith, TX; Earl Dean Smith and wife Judy, Red Creek; and Gary Wayne Smith and wife Rhonda, VA; five sisters, Peggy Jean Smith, Cabins; Jessie Mae Pratt and husband Howard, VA; Mary Louise Parkinson and husband Phillip, OH; Dorothy Ruth Kline and husband Franklin, VA; Kathryn Lynn Black and husband Dolan, Harman; and several nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Harman High School with the Class of 1970 and attended the Dry Fork Assembly of God Church. She was a former employee of the Canaan Valley Resort, and the Tucker County Senior Center. She enjoyed reading and was a noted cook. The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Thursday, April 21, 2011 from 1 PM to 2 PM, the funeral hour. The Rev.
