We’re so sorry to learn of Helen’s passing. We had the pleasure of living next door to Helen and Sam on Lake Shore Drive, Chicago. You could not ask for more gracious, generous, or fun loving neighbors.
A formidable presence, Helen was a woman who could “fill a room” with her energy, enthusiasm, and warmth. She did nothing half-way, (anyone who saw her Christmas tree would agree).
When we showed her a picture of and our then eight year old son and a promising young college golfer, she took a copy to the U.S. Open for an autograph. That player was Tiger Woods, and yes, Helen succeeded in getting a personalized autograph. Anyone who knew Helen would not be surprised. Her enthusiasm was aptly matched by her tenacity.
She genuinely had an interest in people and the ability to make one feel special. She took time with people, wrote notes, took pictures, shared stories. She made a “Welcome Home” sign when our daughter was born. It was the size of a billboard. It took months to remove the tape from the doorway! She loved life and fiercely loved her family. She will be greatly missed. Our heartfelt condolences to John and family.

So sorry to hear of Helen's passing. I met Mrs Casey 6 years ago when her grandson Andrew and my daughter Elizabeth were in the same class at Seagate Elementary School, We took a small group of kids to the movies as well as volunteer in the school. We ran into each other on and off through the years and enjoyed talking about Andrew and Elizabeth. Your mother left a voice mail on my phone in late October inviting me to her home for Independent women voters for Obama. She once again took the time to ask about Elizabeth and wanted Elizabeth to get in touch with Andrew.I was unable to go to her home due to knee surgery and I deeply regret that now.She always made everyone feel important and special and I will miss her. "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal,Loves leaves a memory no one can steal." God bless
