HELEN DEUTSCH
It is with deep sadness that the family of Helen Deutsch announce her passing on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the age of 90. Helen will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter Edie (Blaine) Gibbons; most precious grandchildren Sean and Sarah Gibbons. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Willibald (Irma) Deutsch; sisters-in-law, Rosa Schreiner and Anni Fodor; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Frank, in 2008; her parents Joseph and Gisela Fodor; in-laws, Franz and Maria Deutsch; brothers, Alois, Franz, Adolf and Joseph; sister Mitzi Gartner; brothers-in- law, Victor Gartner, Franz Schreiner; and sister-in-law Anni Sommer. Helen was born in Burgenland, Austria on January 27, 1923. In 1954 she immigrated to Canada and settled in Regina. A couple of years later, she met and married Frank and together they raised their only daughter (Edie) in Regina. Although Helen was born in Austria, she was a Regina person at heart. She worked for many years at Frank's Café. Mom was an excellent cook and we especially loved her German dishes and her baking. Mom loved nature and enjoyed spending weekends at their summer cottage at Regina Beach. Her pride and joy were her two grandchildren, Sean and Sarah, whom will miss her immensely. The family would like to thank the staff on 2 West Pioneer Village for the care they provided during her stay. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 2026 Winnipeg Street, Regina on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Vitalis Azike presiding. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's name, may be made to St. Mary's Church, 2026 Winnipeg Street, Regina SK S4P 1G6 or to The Hospital's of Regina Foundation, c/o Pioneer Village Recreation Program, P.O. Box 1697, Regina SK, S4P 3C6. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
