Helen Louise Snyder Fenton

Helen Louise Snyder Fenton, 97, of 309 Merrill Parkway, Towanda, Pa., passed away Monday, Aug. 31, 2015 at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital, Towanda, Pa.

Helen was born on July 13, 1918 at home in Wilmot Township, Pa., the daughter of George J. Snyder Sr. and Lottie VanNess Snyder. Helen grew up in Wilmot Township and was a graduate of the one-room Panther Lick School there. Her main interest in life encompassed her home and family. Helen enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, bus trips traveling, photography, caring for her flowers and cats, working puzzles and shopping.

Surviving are her children, Robert Fenton of Towanda, Betty Heeman and husband Fred of Wyalusing, Linda Preston and husband Dirk of Towanda; grandchildren, Fred Heeman and wife Jill of Camptown, Tammy Hart and husband Dave of Towanda, Pamela Miller and husband Paul of Rome; great-grandchildren, Cody Place of Kutztown, Pa., Justin Heeman of Camptown, Devin, Conor and Trevor Miller all of Rome; step great-grandchildren, Connor and Madi Hart; her companion, Charles Knowles of Towanda; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond A. Fenton; infant grandson, Fred Leon Heeman; great-grandson, Jacob Drew Heeman; sisters, Ethel Snyder VanDerMark, Julia Snyder Bleiler, Maretta Snyder Baker and Bessie Hughey; brothers, Theodore Snyder and George Snyder Jr.; and a nephew, Earl VanDerMark.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
