We certainly miss Helen and Chuck. She was the first person to welcome us to our neighborhood, popping over with an apple pie -- a gesture that became typical of Helen's generous spirit. What a lovely example of the grandmother everyone would like to have -- warm, gracious, and full of patience. She and Chuck are sorely missed by all of us.

Once a mother, always a mother.
A mother to her beloved children
A shining example to others,
Her love is a shelter.
Dedicated love,
Serving,
Loving.

I will miss Helen and never forget her love and hospitality during my college years. You always learned so much from her by just observing her! Her children are her biggest testament of the beautiful person she was.

I will miss my Aunt Helen but will always remember what a joy it was to spend time in the Hendrix home. Helen created a home that was warm and welcoming and bursting with creativity and beauty everywhere you looked. Helen's grace and compassion was a gift to all who knew her.

What a beautiful person! I feel blessed to have known her through the Grainger Family. My deepest condolences to all her devoted family.
She's with Chuck now. They are together again....

Helen (my grandmother Ann Schachter's sister)gave me some great memories and many laughs. I remember my brother and I rolling back the big blue pool cover and diving in on a hot summer day! We were not her grandchildren but she let us play and goof around like we were.
Helen had a very long oxygen tube that followed her around the house and she would joke about tripping people with it and even once grabbed both ends and asked me if I wanted to try and jump rope!
Her smile and love for others will live on . . . always!

What I know about Helen (I know her as
Jo's mom) is that her heart was so generous and loving. I have a beautiful afgan that she made for each of the girls in Jo's investment club--We always had her in our thoughts--she was one of us. I know she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
With warm regards...Lori Sheets

I have wonderful memories of your mom & dad while we were in Girl Scouts! They always made you feel welcome, as if you were apart of the family! They were both wonderful people! All of you are in my thoughts and prayers....
