Helen Hoyt Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 24, 2013.
Helen Doris Nenoff Hoyt was born on May 30, 1936 in Massena, NY, and passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013 after a long struggle with lung cancer. Helen attended the Norfolk school system and was married to John Hoyt, Jr (02/25/1921 - 12/08/2008; deceased at 92 yrs), who was a Veteran of the US Army (Tec 5, WWII): http://www.locategrave.org/l/4617220/John-Hoyt-NY. Helen worked many years as a housekeeper at the St. Lawrence Inn while Johnny worked as a large equipment / backhoe operator and as an avid race car driver. He loved watching the Indy 500 and NASCAR Races. Helen enjoyed the company of her good friend Barbara and their time helping out with church dinners. The family thanks Barbara Peters for all her hours of friendship and care she showed Helen in her later years of life. Helen was a long-time resident of Canton, NY and most recently of Potsdam, New York residing and under the care of her step-son Jack Hoyt and his wife Connie. The family also thanks Jack and Connie for their care and attentiveness to Helen's daily home needs and handling many doctor and hospital trips. Helen selected cremation and her ashes will be interred during the Spring of 2013 (April-May) at the Evergreen Cemetery next to her husband John, located in Canton, NY 13617 with no services. Helen was a very private person who loved reading a good romance novel, and loved animals like her mother, Anna Mae Thompson Nenoff of Norfolk, NY (deceased 1990 at 81; buried in the N. Syracuse Cemetery, South Bay Rd., N. Syracuse, NY 13212). Helen was of Native Mohawk Indian (by mother) and Bulgarian decent ('Docho' Dick Nenoff - Father; deceased in 1976 at 81; buried alongside Anna Mae). Helen and John raised several chihuahuas during their lifetime and most recently, their loved chihuahua 'Princess'. Helen cared for Johnny until his passing, and then returned to her novel reading and became a dinner service volunteer at a local Methodist church in Canton, NY. Helen's predeceased brother was Leonard Docho Nenoff (died 2/1/1995) of Indianapolis Indiana, and surviving siblings are Clifford George Nenoff (82) (previously of Niagara Falls, NY, and Tampa (Largo), Fl), Janette Eleanor Nenoff Bellows (81) of N. Syracuse, NY, and Clark Warren Nenoff (78) of Riverhead (Long Island) NY, and nephew Dr. Richard Stanley Nenoff (62) of Albuquerque, NM; nieces Sharon Nenoff Bellows-Verwij (49) of Liverpool, NY; Jennifer L. Nenoff (26) of Albuquerque, NM; Nephews: Joseph Nenoff (48) of Clearwater, FL; Mark Leslie Bellows (52) of Gibsonia, PA; Garret James Bellows (48) of N. The family would like to express their love and fond memories of Helen as she passes into our heavenly world with her beloved Johnny. May our thoughts and prayers guide you and help you be at peace. We are glad you don't have to suffer any longer and can rest. We will miss you dearly, our visits, weekend phone calls, and all the cards and letters you've sent to us through the years. I always felt your love and pride as my Aunt. I was always wanting you to take some trips to visit our country before your time came. I hope that you can make time for that now and take those trips with Johnny. Seymour Funeral Home is handling arrangements: 4 Cedar Street, Potsdam, NY 13676, Phone Number: (315) 265-4240.
