SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – Helen Ruth Keller, 94, formerly of Hartford City, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at Regent Care Center, San Antonio, Texas.

She was born in Hartford City on October 17, 1919, to the late Jules Vandelene and the late Lulua (Whetsell) Vandelene.

Helen graduated from Hartford City High School in 1937.

She married Kenneth E. Keller on September 4, 1936, in Carlton, Ky. He preceded her in death on October 5, 2012.

Helen was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hartford City, and Indiana University Health Blackford Hospital Auxiliary.

She retired in 1980 from 3M Company, Hartford City, after 36 years of employment.

Helen will be sadly missed by her son, Kenneth Rex (wife, Mary) Keller, of San Antonio, Texas; granddaughter, Kristina Keller.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one granddaughter, Katherine A. Keller, one sister, Edith Smith, and two brothers, Jules Vandelene Jr. and Robert Vandelene.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City, with the Rev. John Parks officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Keplinger Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Katherine A. Keller Memorial Scholarship at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas 77843 or Trinity United Methodist Church, 303 N. Walnut St., Hartford City, IN 47348.
