Helen McIntyre Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 19 to Jul. 21, 2011.
MCINTYRE, HELEN (HUBER), passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at the age of 86 after a battle with cancer. She died in the presence of her faithful and caring husband of 63 years, John W. "Jack" McIntyre, along with her loving children.

She was the daughter of Nace and Bertha Huber of the Southern Indiana Hubers and is preceded in death by her sisters, Lucille, Jenny and Betty; and her older brother, Bud Huber.

Along with her husband, she is survived by her children, Ann (John) Miller, Becky (Phil) Dalman, John (Debbie) McIntyre and Tim (Kathy) McIntyre. Survivors also include her nine grandchildren, Johnny, Michael and Scott McIntyre, Jackie (Murray), PJ and Christopher Dalman, Angie Scalf, Molly Miller and Patrick McIntyre; six great-grandchildren; her sister, Marg Corcoran; and brother, Melvin Huber.

Born in Palmyra, IN on February 25, 1925, she and her family then moved to Louisville in 1938. After being one of the first students at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Lexington Road, she went to Sacred Heart, Nazareth College and later graduated from U of L with a Home Economics Major in 1948. She was an excellent student and athletically successful as well, leading all 3 mentioned schools to victories as a talented Field Hockey player.

She was a member of Queen's Daughters Charitable Organization, the Bellarmine Women's Council, and Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She was an avid golfer and member of Big Spring Country Club since 1959, where she also enjoyed family get-togethers, wedding receptions, Bridge Groups and numerous parties celebrating life here in Louisville.

She was the epitome of a supportive sister, a true friend, a thoughtful in-law, a caring grandmother, a considerate aunt, an ideal wife and unbelievably loving mother and will be extremely missed by all of us who were so fortunate to know her.

Special thanks to all the caring staff at Belmont Village and to everyone from Hosparus and Home Instead, who gave her such tender, loving care in her final days.

Her Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2011 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 3345 Lexington Road, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Ratterman's, 3711 Lexington Road.

Expressions of sympathy can be made to Mass of the Air or Hosparus.

It was both an honor and a priviledge to provide care for your mom at this time. Thank you for the opportunity. It was also wonderful to watch your family rally around your mom, your dad and each other. You will continue in our thoughts and prayers.
