SUNBURY -- Surrounded by her family and friends, Helen Murin, 84, of 722 Chestnut St., passed away at her home at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008.
She was born Sept. 10, 1923, in RR1 Herndon, a daughter of the late Sophie (Stepp) Neidig and Frank Stankiewicz. On Sept. 13, 1969, she married Albert Murin, who preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1992.
Helen attended school at St. Anthony's in Ranshaw and the Shamokin schools.
She was employed at Burton's Enterprise in Paxinos.
Helen was a member of St. Monica's Church in Sunbury.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara A. and Kenneth Meeker of Sunbury; one son and daughter-in-law, Francis and Mary Ann Murin of Bloomsburg; four stepsons, Albert Murin Jr., Jimmy Murin, Lenny Murin and Bob Murin; 10 grandchildren, Debra Snyder and husband Ronald of Mocksville, N.C., Herbert Schminkey and companion Christy Willis, Barbara Diehl and husband Richard, Robert Schminkey and wife Cheryl, and Kenneth Meeker Jr., all of Sunbury, Joseph Meeker and wife Joelle, with whom she lived, Tina Britton and husband Bill of Carlisle, Richard Snyder Jr. and fiancee Natalie, Theresa Troup and husband Paul, and Lisa Hoagland and fiance Jeff, all of Sunbury; 29 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Cecilia Sock of Harrisburg; and one brother, Frank Stankiewicz of Shamokin.
She was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Kline Jr.; one daughter, Shirley Snyder; one grandson, Dwayne "Buddy" Snyder; one great-granddaughter, Dana Schminkey; and two great-great-grandchildren, Emmanuel and D.J.
Family and friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Monica's Church, Sunbury, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 with Father William T. Haviland officiating.
Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Monica's Church, Sunbury.
Funeral arrangements are by the Olley-Gotlob Funeral Home, 539 Race St., Sunbury.
