Helen Schenck Obituary
A proud daughter of Boston, Helen grew up in the vibrant neighborhood of Dorchester and later made her home in West Roxbury. These communities were not just backdrops to her life-they were integral to her story. In West Roxbury, she raised her four children and created a household filled with love, laughter, and unwavering strength.
Helen had a gift for finding happiness in everyday moments. She delighted in being outdoors and basking in the sunshine whenever she could. An avid shopper with an eye for hidden gems, she enjoyed searching for that perfect find. Her creativity shone through her love of crafting-each project infused with care and personality. Whether strolling through store aisles or working on something special at home, Helen embraced each experience with enthusiasm and heart.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Helen M. Schenck of Norwood; Diane Salman and her husband John of Hyde Park; Brian Schenck and his wife Terri of San Diego; and Michael Schenck and his wife Kerry of Easton. Her spirit lives on through her six beloved grandchildren-Sireena, Alex, George, Amelia, Maxwell, and Kinsey-who affectionately called her "Yia-Yia." She is also fondly remembered by her brother John "Yianni" Niak and his wife Janice of Walpole.
Helen was predeceased by her cherished partner Glenn Costigan; her brothers George "Butch" Niak and Steven "Stevie" Niak; as well as her parents George and Mary Niak.
Her warmth, vibrant energy, and unwavering spirit touched all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her and continue to inspire joy in the simple pleasures of life.
A private celebration of life will be held to honor Helen's memory.
