Helen Marie (Scully) Sitarz, 92, a resident of Wethersfield for 42 years, loving wife of the late Edward Francis Sitarz for 61 years, died peacefully, Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Newington Health Care. She was born October 29, 1921 in Hartford and was the daughter of the late William Francis Scully, Sr. and Edith Olive (Court) Scully. Helen was a graduate of Mt. St. Joseph Academy, Class of 1939 and was retired from Travelers Insurance Company. She was a longtime faithful communicant and a member of the Women's Club of the Church of the Incarnation, Wethersfield. A talented seamstress, Helen also was an excellent cook, pie maker, enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and was an impeccable dresser, always wearing her pearls. She was an avid sports fan; especially UCONN Women's Basketball as well never missing any of her children's and grandchildren's sporting events. She was a very family oriented woman and a proud devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Susan M. Fennelly of Wethersfield, sons, John W. Sitarz and wife, Margaret W. Sitarz and Robert E. Sitarz and wife, Margaret R. Sitarz all of West Hartford, grandchildren, Bill Fennelly and partner, Jason Rosencranz, Debra O'Leary and husband, John, Julia Sitarz Lasek and husband, Krzysztof, Mary Kate Sitarz, Jane Margaret Sitarz, Ryan Sitarz and Colin Sitarz, great grandchildren, Jack and Sean O'Leary, Zuzu and Timmy Lasek, and several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to care giver, Jan Nowak and the staff at Newington Health Care for the love care and compassion shown to Helen and her family. Funeral service will be Wednesday 9 am from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. The burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5-8 pm at the funeral chapel. Donations in Helen's memory may be made to St. Brigid School, 100 Mayflower Street, West Hartford, CT, 06110 or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Connecticut Chapter, 659 Tower Street, Hartford, CT, 06112. On behalf of President/Chief Administrator David Eustis and the entire Northwest Catholic High School community, I offer my deepest sympathy on the passing of Helen Sitarz.

Because her daughter-in-law, Margaret Redden Sitarz '72, her grandchildren, Julia Sitarz Lasek '97, Mary Kate Sitarz '99, Jane Sitarz '01 and Ryan Sitarz '03, and her nieces and nephews, Janet Scully Gaunt '67, Marilyn Scully Walsh '68, Bill Scully '70, John Scully '72, Nancy Scully Bannon '73, Jack Scully '75, Sally Scully '77, Jim Scully '79 and Bill Scully '80, are cherished members of our school family, we feel that Helen was, too, and we mourn her death along with all those who love her.

Please know that we are holding all of Helen's family very close to our hearts this week, and that we will include Helen on the prayer list at our first school-wide Mass in September. We are very sorry for your loss.
