Helen M. Spengler

Helen Marie Hoy Spengler, 96, of Elkton, MD passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017. Born in Elkton, MD on December 7, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Russell W. and Helen Thomson Heisler Hoy. She was the last surviving grandchild of the 13 children of the Heisler family who settled in Charlestown, MD.
Mrs. Spengler's life revolved around her family and her home and she particularly loved being with her children and grandchildren. She had volunteered for more than 15 years at Holly Hall Elementary School, Elkton. Mrs. Spengler enjoyed reading, spending time in the outdoors and dining out.
Survivors include her children, June S. Reasin (Alan), Conowingo, MD and Chuck R. Spengler (Bonnie), Charlestown, MD; grandchildren, Dawn Krahn (Bruce), Chad Spengler, Matt Spengler (Shannon), Brandon Reasin, and Byron Reasin (Andi); great grandchildren, Dustin, Brady, Averi, Chase, Alliyah, Dean and Janeen and a great great grandson, Jeremiah. She is also survived by numerous Heisler cousins.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Spengler was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Eugene Spengler.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 23, 10-11 a.m. at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton. A graveside service will follow in Charlestown Cemetery, Charlestown, MD.
