Helen Tillotson Wandell, 102, passed away peacefully in her home in Vero Beach, Florida, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

Born in Toronto, Canada, Helen was the daughter of the late Frank and Elsie Tillotson, descendants of early Massachusetts colonists. She grew up in New York, graduating from Wilson New York Central High School in 1941. She continued her education at the New York State College at Buffalo, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 1945.

Helen dedicated her career to public service, retiring from the Florida Department of Public Welfare. Known for her sharp mind, steady work ethic, and deep compassion, she spent her professional life enhancing the well-being of others throughout the community she served.

She was a devoted member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Vero Beach, where she worshipped faithfully since 1957.

Helen is survived by her five children: Francis "Fritz" Hugh Mason Wandell and his wife, The Rev. Frances LaBlanc; Cynthia Miriam Jeanne Wandell; Eric Carter Wandell; Melissa Anne Wandell Freeman and Linda Amy Thyra Richardson. She is also remembered lovingly by her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fritz Wandell.

A service honoring Helen's life will be held at a later date.
