Helena May Purkiss

Helena May Purkiss, 79, of Little Rock, passed away July 7, 2003. She was born November 23, 1923 to the late Henry Robert Johnson and Hazel E. (Davis) Johnson in Jessieville, AR and was a graduate of Mabelvale High. Helena was a member of South Highland Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl Purkiss and her parents. Her memory will be cherished by her three sons, Burl Dean Purkiss and his wife, Ella M. of Hot Springs; Ronald Gene Purkiss and his wife, Sharon of Maple Creek Farms; David L. Purkiss and his wife, Ruth of Little Rock; one sister, Lois Bedford of Ft. Worth, TX; one brother, Robert Henry Johnson of Abilene, TX; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the South Highland Baptist Church, 10200 West 36th Street, Little Rock, AR, 72204.

A gathering in remembrance of Helena May Purkiss will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 10, 2003 at the South Highland Baptist Church, with Bro. Freddy Parker, officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 West 12th Street, Little Rock, 661-9111.
