I just learned of Helga's passing from a returned Christmas Card. I had no idea. What a loss. My condolences to all.
Helga was married to my Uncle Brian and I have many sweet memories of her. We first met when I was a teenager growing up in England and I was fascinated by Uncle Brian's "new wife." We became better acquainted when I moved to the US in 1980, and spent time together when vacationing in Florida. We shared many stories about leaving our homeland and the experience of emigrating. While we have not remained close, I appreciate our annual notes to each other and feel a great sense of loss. No doubt, she will be dearly missed by her Red Cross community and I thank her for her contribution to humanity.

I'm so shocked and sorry to learn in Dec. 2013, of Helga's passing in May. We worked together on a number of Red Cross Disaster Assignments and she always sent a Christmas card. She talked about her family in German and friends like Matthew and Penelope. Sorry for your loss. Rest in peace, my friend.
