I worked under Helmut at the Red Lion Thunderbird in the early 1980s. He was a great guy and someone I have always looked up to. As a boss, he was very engaging and entertaining.

Helmut Jacobs was a great guy. He was an executive chef for several of Portland restaurateur Horst Mager Portland restaurants before becoming executive chef of the Red Lion Thunderbird restaurant. Helmut could be very entertaining. and would engage people with his funny stories. Helmut was married to Brigetta who died of cancer. He was a kind and humorous person who will be missed.
