The Bassen families - I just learned of your Dad's passing this weekend. What a loss to so many friends - and what a wonderful plus for heaven. I will always remember Hank's wonderful way with the Calgary Wrangler players - and what a great influence he was to them and to us all - not to mention what a wonderful fun guy to be with. My late condolences to you all - you have so much to be proud of being his family !

Shane, Brian, Sandy, Bob & Mark,

I wish I could have been in Calgary to express to you how much I admired your dad. He was a source of encouragement and support to me and I count it a privilege to have known him.

I pray that memories of his love for God, your mom, and your family would be a blessing in the days and years to come and that others would come to trust in God because of what they saw in his life.

Dear Mark and Family,

Please accept my deepest sympathies. I received and e-mail from Carolyn informing me of your dad’s passing. My thoughts go out to you and your family. I am so sorry I was not able to attend his service. I am honoured to have known your dad and mom. What an amazing family. I know that we have lost touch through the years, but would love to reconnect. If there is anything I can do for your family during this time please let me know. As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

God Bless,

Donna Logan

Dear Sandy and Family,
I have many wonderful memories of your Dad while we were growing up. Your mom and dad always welcomed me into your home and treated me like part of the family. They are both wonderful giving people who made the world a better place. Whenever I ran into your dad Sandy, we would talk forever about how proud he was of you and your family(along with all your brothers). My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I'm so sorry I didn't know about the funeral because I would have loved to have been there to celebrate your dad's life and the beginning of his new life in Heaven. Love Donna Logan (Makar)

Dear Bassen Children:

In a lifetime long ago, remembered when we see photos of Hank in net, your parents were very much a part of our lives on Laurier Drive in LaSalle, ON. Though we visited only once in Calgary, they were never far from thought. Wishing you comfort in fond memories. May your Special Angels look over you now.

To: The Bassen Family, What a loss for you, but what a gain for heaven. Your father was just such a gentle, kind soul. Such a gentleman; this was obvious in his boys too. The faith your parents lived will go on forever in your hearts & others because their Ministry was so powerful.

Your father always asked about my kids, how is Gail, what is Colin doing or Nola. He remembered.

He is now with your mom where he longed to be. Bless each one of you & may the God of love & comfort bring much peace. As time goes by may the memories of your wonderful father(& mother) bring a smile to your face & laughter to your heart.

To all of Hank & Shirley's Family

Time takes many things but never the memories of times past. They are precious. We go back a long, long way, even before your parents met & we feel your sadness very much. Your Dad was a vibrant "young" man all his life, who cared for each & every person he met.

Our Grandson, Matt got his autograph last summer & your Dad said: "Man, it's been a long time since someone asked me for that, Sharon"

So we send our deepest sympathy to you all & yet rejoice in knowing that you can say "Auf Wiederschen" to a Father who loved you all so much!

The faith in which your parents lived, has spoken volumns to so many & you can rest assured, that by the Grace of God, you will see them again some day.

Shalom dear ones.
Wally & Sharon (nee: Gerlitz) long time friends of your Gramma & Grampa Dippel

Bob:

I remember you proudly showing me your dad's hockey card waaaay back then in elementary school. I'm sure he was equally proud of your hockey career as well. I hope the time will come that you remember not that your father has died, but that he LIVED, and blessed your life in the process. Take care.

Bassen Family:

Your dear Dad was my father-in-law's best buddy so we got to know him as well. We would stop in at the house and visit now and then and my husband would meet them for coffee. Although we have never met you personally, we know each and every one of you and your family as your Dad would share his concerns and ask us to pray which we do. Mark, we keep praying for you, your family and your ministry.

I loved your Dad with his sweet, gentle spirit and he missed your mother so. When I heard he was gone from this earth and present with His Lord, I was so happy for him. He was lonely without his wife and although he did everything he could to reach out and help anyone he could, that gap was never quite filled.

I totally understand the loss as my Dad passed away when I was six months pregnant with our son (that was 26 years ago) but like your Dad he loved his Lord and left a Godly heritage.

We just pray that the God of all peace and comfort will strengthen your heart and minds through Christ Jesus!

What a true inspiration Hank was to us, and to so many others. His laugh was a real blessing as he went out of his way to share his life with so many others. We will all miss dear Hank but our loss is heavens gain and he is rejoicing now with another dear soul your mom Shirley. We will see them both some day. Psalms 116:15
