Henry Jackson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 25, 2017.
JACKSON Henry L., 70, passed peacefully Tuesday June 20, 2017 in Lexington, KY where he resided more than 30 years. He earned a Bachelor's of Science in Commerce from DePaul University and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame. As a businessman, Henry had a distinguished career and rose the corporate ladder through hard work and dedication finishing his corporate career with 15 years at Clark Equipment before embarking on the entrepreneurial phase of his career. Henry founded Jackson Enterprises which includes a number of supply chain companies servicing Toyota Manufacturing most notably Jackson Plastics, Millennium Steel and Synova Carpets. Henry was an advocate for family, minority business development, education and community development. None of us can measure the capacity of his impact on the lives of everyone that he encountered, through his tireless work, family and friendships that spanned the business, political and community spectrum. His civic involvement in the city of Lexington is immeasurable. During his 34-year residency in Lexington, Henry had a long distinguished history of civic engagement including terms on several boards including the Lexington Chamber of Commerce, Fayette County Urban League, Bluegrass Airport Authority, Commissioner of the Commonwealth of Kentucky Commission on Human Rights and was an avid supporter of The University of Kentucky, sitting on various advisory boards and was a Board of Trustee member. Henry is survived by his wife, Andrea Jackson, children Kevin (Nikki) Jackson, Todd (Maggie) Jackson, Nicole (Maurice) Fountain, 9 grandchildren, 3 brothers and 7 sisters, in addition to a host of family and special friends. Wake will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 5-8pm at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 3421 Harrodsburg Rd. in Lexington, KY 40513. Services will be held on Thursday, June 29 at Consolidated Baptist Church, 1625 Russell Cave Rd. 40505 in Lexington, KY. Visitation begins at 9:30am, followed by the service at 10:30am Interment at Camp Nelson at 1:30pm in Nicholasville, KY. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Henry Jackson Memorial Fund at the University of Notre Dame (www.donate.nd.edu), Urban League of Lexington or Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass, in honor of Henry Jackson and his passion to support and educate our youth. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

May songs of the angels welcome you and guide you along your way, may the smiles of the martyrs greet your own as darkness turn into day. Every fear will be undone and death will be no more as songs of the angels bring you home before the face of God. Mr.Jackson you will be missed immensely from near and far. Thank you for the great pleasure of allowing me to be one of the many. Rest in eternal peace

Henry was a friend and mentor that I got to know all too briefly, but will never forget. Some individuals leaves impressions. Henry's loss leaves a hole. My God bless Andrea, Kevin, Nicole, Todd, the grandkid he adored so much and the rest of the family during this difficult time.
Thank you for sharing your Henry and your lives with me.
