Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 28 to Sep. 29, 2012.
Henry Neff

Henry "Hen" Neff, 88, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2012 in his Newport, Delaware home.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Henry retired from General Motors in 1982, where he had worked in the body shop grinding booth for 30 years. He was a World War II veteran and served aboard an Army transport ship in the Pacific for 3 years.

Henry was an avid shooter and marksman, loved fishing and hunting, and was a member of several pistol clubs. He made lifelong friends during his many years at Kirkwood Fitness Club. Most of all, Henry had been a dedicated woodworker all his life. He made everything from rowboats in his younger days to many children's toys after he retired. He donated many of the toys to the Toys for Tots program run in conjunction with General Motors for many years.

Henry was predeceased by his wife, Amy; and his youngest son, Daniel.

He is survived by his sister, Caroline "Sis" George; his son, David and wife, Cynthia; and two granddaughters, Juliann Neff and Lisa Neff.

Henry had a great and full life in his 88 years.

Friends are invited to visit at the Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle on Monday, October 1 from 1:00 - 2:00PM. Funeral services will begin at 2:00PM, with interment following in the Garden of the Master in the adjoining cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in memory of Henry to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
