I would like to express my sympathy on the passing of Henry (Hank) Ruppel. I just recently learned of his death.

To share how I knew Henry (Hank), your dad, I will add some family backround, beginning with my mother, Dorothy Ann Ruppel Brugeman, who was an aunt of young Henry. Dorothy had two siblings, her brother Henry who was young Henry's father, and her sister Ethelyn. Wee all lived in the Cleveland area in the 1940's. When I was a young boy, we used to visit young Henry and his family in Brooklyn, and I occasionally stayed overnight with him and his parents. If I remember correctly, there was an airport within hiking distance behind there house. Young Henry and I would sit on a hill and watch the planes take off and land, which was exciting for us decades ago at the age of 4 or 5. We had some good times as young boys. When I was about 5 years old, we moved out of the Cleveland area to Huron, Ohio, and I kind of lost track of Hank, but my mom, Dorothy, kept in contact with her brother, Hank's father.

After college and the Army, I married and moved to Michigan where I have lived and raised a family. My roots are still in Ohio, however, as we keep a sailboat in Port Clinton. I have three siblings: Sue, Tim and Sally. The last time I remember seeing Henry (Hank) was at his father's funeral in the Cleveland area.

The pictures honoring your dad, show a man happily surrounded by family and friends.
