Henry Steinman Obituary

STEINMAN Henry John Steinman Jr., age 83, of Russellville, Mo., passed away Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Mo. He was born May 9, 1925, in Argyle, Mo., the son of Henry John Sr. and Margaret Weiberg Steinman, both of whom preceded him in death. He attended Whiles School in Argyle, Mo. and graduated from St. Louis Electronics School. Henry served with the United States Army in World War II and was a member of the 175th Engineers Unit, serving in Germany, Greece and Italy. He was united in marriage February 12, 1949, at St. Peters Church, in Jefferson City, Mo. to Louise Bruning, who survives of the home. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Russellville, Mo., a member of Local Carpenters Union 945, Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion Post 5, and St. Michael's Knights of Columbus # 8916. Henry was a lifelong farmer, and retired from Menefee Construction in Sedalia, Mo. His last job before retirement was completing the runway for the first stealth bombers at Whiteman Air Force Base. Henry loved spending time with family and friends, and also fishing. He will be sadly missed. Survivors include: His wife Louise of the home; three sons, James Steinman with his wife Mary of Canton, Conn., Jerry Steinman with his wife Shelley of Russellville, Mo., and David Steinman with his wife Debora of Russellville, Mo.; two daughters, Patty Miles with her husband Marshall of Russellville, Mo., and Cathy Welch with her husband Brian of Jefferson City, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Sylvester Steinman; and one sister, Florentine Schwartze. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Broch Steinman; four brothers, Cletus, Victor, Joe and Wilfred Steinman; and two sisters, Catherine Kimball and Dorothy Steinman. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Russellville, Mo. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with Father Clarence Wiederholt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Expressions of sympathy are suggested to the ALS Foundation or the St. Judes Childrens Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Weber Funeral Home in Russellville, Mo.
