Herbert Colker

Anyone who knew Herb knew a true gentleman. I was fortunate to know Herb. He will be missed.

Oh Dear Colker Family ,all of you changed my life .
Steve and I were good friends during our teenage years and Mr. Hooverous always hollered at me for using too much ketsup . I really loved that hooverous grill ! but the family structure was so full of love . I didn't have a good family and that is why I looked up to all of you . thank you for allowing me to lean on your standards.
I think of your family always .

Bill Johnson: I believe in the Herb Colker philosophy. He passed from this earth on July 4, 2016 at age of 96. Herb's truism: If your golf ball is in the rough get it back in the fairway; if you can't find your golf ball, go back 20 yards; and finally never miss a chance to pee.
So as my number one salesman always said when asked to present his short and long term plans, "I'm going to show up everyday and do the best I can."
Works for me!!


Nora Johnson Herb and Betty were our heroes. I can't think of anybody who made more of and with their lives than these two. They lived and loved every minute to the fullest and couldn't live long without each other.

Though I have lived away from Huntington for many years I remember Herb well and all the Colker family. My sympathy at the loss.

My parents, sister and I knew Herb and his children well, and I extend my sympathies to my Marshall Lab classmate and tennis teammate Steve and my Evanston neighbor David.

Prayers of comfort go out for the children of Herb & Betty - especially for my childhood friend & classmate (Marshall Lab / Huntington High) for 12 years - Deborah. May your hearts be healed from he pain from the loss of both of your parents in such a very short time - 3 months. Memories of Betty, so well dressed and smiling. A truly wonderful man, herb Colker has passed..his memory lives forever in our hearts.a mentor, a teacher.a man involved in the well being of others. And a pillar in B,nai Shalom congregation.

Sue and I are terribly saddened by Herb's death and miss him and Betty. We "inherited"their friendship from my parents, and they always cared about us, traveling to be part of our family's simchas. We were so happy that they made a point of visiting us when they were in Israel. They were good and kind and optimistic people. May their memories be a source of happiness and strength to their family.

So terribly saddened. I loved The Colker's and was so grateful and honored that they traveled for simchas and attended my son and daughter in laws wedding in Florida in 2010

Herb and Betty were among my favorite people from our family's time in Huntington. It was a privilege to have known them.

My condolences to the Colker family. I will fondly remember Herb & Betty as being eternally young and upbeat. What a treasure to their community and to their loved ones.

David and I send sympathy to you. However, if ever lives were well lived it was those of Herb and Betty. We will miss them but they deserve their rest together. So sorry that we can't be there to tell you in person

Herb and Betty led lives that were a shining example of what is good and right with our world. We are forever in their debt, which is exactly what they wouldn't want...but we love you both and miss you and will always remember you.

Herb was one of a kind - a special, kind, man who DID something when and wherever he saw a need. I am so sorry I can't be at the funeral, but as Herb said many times "with one tuchas, you can't be in two places". Rabbi David will represent our family.

I am really saddened to hear of Herb's death .He was a remarkable man. His compassion and generosity was unfailing. It was an honor to have known and worked with him. May he rest in peace.
