For a man to have no formal acting lessons, he ACED his part. He was talented and funny. His character could not have been acted any better. When I got to Boot Camp in Texas, February 1979, almost everyone thought that as the way it was in Georgia. I told them, “yes, that’s EXACTLY like it is”. Cowboy made an impression on folks all over the country. Rest in Peace sir.

It´s amazing how a brief sighting of this man is still fresh in my mind. Rest in Peace; you impacted many more than you realized, reminding us we are so much more than impressions we leave on others. May your impact bring smiles and warm memories to many who respected and loved you.

I was blessed to meet Cowboy at Longs Chappel with Little Man and his pet squirrel. He loved his little pets and it was such a joy that he shared them with all of us. I was honored one Sunday getting out of my car at the same time Cowboy was and he said, Little lady would you mind carrying Little Man inside for me. That was so special to me. He also shared with me the little sunglasses he made for Little Man. I will always cherish the photo's I took that morning of the three of them. I would have loved to sit with Cowboy and listen to all his tales, and I'm sure he had plenty. He was a truly special person who is now with our Lord and Savior.

In December of 2022, I had the honor of meeting Herbert at the Publix in Canton. He was the kindest man and I so enjoyed the brief encounter. My condolences to the family and friends.
