Herbert L. "Herb" Ellis III, lifelong resident of Randolph, passed away peacefully at home on May 14, 2018, after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 75. Born in Brockton, Herb grew up in Randolph and graduated from Quincy Trade School. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked as a Union Plumber for Local 12 in Boston, for over 40 years. In his free time, Herb was an avid golfer, playing in several golf leagues in and around Randolph, enjoyed camping with family and friends and especially loved spending time with his granddaughters. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and son, Herb will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Herb was the beloved husband of Hazel (Kemmitt) Ellis; loving father of Christine M. Murray of Weymouth, Herbert L. Ellis IV of Middleboro and Richard P. Ellis and his wife Wallie Ellis of Stoughton; dear son of Virginia Ellis of Randolph and the late Herbert Ellis Jr.; devoted brother of Gail MacAusland of Brockton; cherished "Papa" to Kayla, Jenna, Jessica and Rachel. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, May 17, from 4-7 p.m. in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St. (Rte. 28), Randolph. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 18 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Randolph. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in Herbs name to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452. Mr. Ellis,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the USAF during the Cold War. Millions of Americans slept safe at night because you and your fellow Servicemen stood ready to defend our Country. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
