Still cant believe youre gone Herb. I think of you often. RIP.

I will always remember a case where Herb had a difficult landlord cllient and I had fallen a bit behing responding to one of his pleadings in the case. I had to argue to the judge that I needed a bit more time to respond. As it happened his client was in Court and complained that by being in Court he missed part of a days work, and so Herb argued that compensation was due from my client. The figure was $100.00 and in that it was me that caused the delay, I got out a check from my wallet and wrote out a check to Herb's trust account, and of course signed the check. Herb put it in his wallet.
A few days later Herb told me that whatever happened along the way but that he was holding the check I had given him. To make a long story short, and this kind of reflects the kind of person Herb Goldman was and always will be in my memory, from time to time when we were opponents he would state to the hearing Judge something about his victory in that prior matter and flashed the check as well. I loved Herb and this was some kind of an "insiders joke." Maybe about ten years later, Her still had that check and he gave it back to me! As any good Jewish lawyer would do, I accepted his tender to me of the check and tore it up. A small incident in our lives, but showed a man who knew what he did, he well represented his clients and yet retained a wonderful sense of humor and fair play. These are topics rarely seen these days but will always be rememberd by me. Herb was among the greatest! Paul Bernstein

My sincere apologies for not being aware of Herb's passing. Herb Goldman was "as good as it gets." We enjoyed each others friendship and abilities as lawyers and as long term friends and he did not let angry landlords, nor did I let any of my tenant clients anger in the courtroom override our huge mutual respect for each other. My respect for Herb as a friend and attorney was unlimited in every way possible. And, as I type this here, I am brought to tears!

Dear Goldman Family,
I'm terribly sorry (and stunned) to hear of the passing of Herby. I am unable to attend the service or meal afterwards, but I want you to know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Herb was a fine man, a good boss and an excellent attorney. I will always remember him fondly.
