Herbert was a constant, kind presence during my high school years. I knew he was clever because he always was able to explain math homework to me. And in those days, that was the height of brilliance!! He and his friend Charlie Low would visit almost every Sunday evening.
We had a lovely reconnection at our 25th reunion where I got to meet your mother. And we had some email contact after that. Herbert embodied all the meaningful characteristics of a productive and satisfying and good hearted life. He was inspiring.

My brother tells me that Herbert never lost patience as he lent my brother his bicycle to learn on -- and my brother kept crashing it.

Thinking of you all at this sad time~~we remember the times years ago when we were all younger and Herbert and Marion and children use to come to Petitcodiac to visit but we moved away and missed those visits in later years however we are now retired and back living in Sussex ~~we do see Marion's sisters now

My Grampy always sent me clippings from the paper he thought would be of interest to me and quarters from the latest national parks/lands series. My last letter from him arrived the day he died and I can't bring myself to open it. Love you Grampy!!
