Dear Jane and family,
We didn't know until today about Herb's passing and we send all our sympathy and love. We want you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We know our kids especially have great memories of scouting and other good times with Herb. I still remember when you both spoke in our ward about your mission and it was great to feel of both your spirits and testimonies.
Thanks for all the love and kindness you have always shown to our family.

Thanks for your love and friendship, Herb. Perhaps my favorite memory of Herb was when he brought the grandkids to play on our playground in our backyard. He had a perma-smile on his face! He loves his family. We love Herb and his family too! May God bless you all with comfort and peace.

Herb's giant soul surely was needed beyond this mortal existence. A great friend to all who had the privilege of meeting him. We loved him as a great home teacher and sitting in quiet sealing rooms together for a short period of time. Always serving, always happy, always a friend. Dear Jane you likewise are loved greatly by all and we pray for sweet peace until you are with him again forever. So sorry we are so far away from Bountiful right now and will miss his services. With our love,
Timothy

I went to high school with Troy, and served most of my mission living alongside him in Dallas. When I got home, I mentioned that I was looking for a car, and Troy connected we with his dad, Herb.
What a great man. He took the time to take me to the auto auction, even though he didn't really know me, and I'm sure he had better things to be doing. What's more, he not only took me one time, but three because each time we went he advised me not to buy, and said he'd bring me back another time. I could tell that he really wanted to help me, even though it must have been an inconvenience for him.
All of this was happened about 17 years ago, and I don't think I ever really saw Herb again after all of his help. All in all, my interactions with him spanned only a brief moment in time, but he nevertheless left an impression. I remember thinking then (and now) that I want to be like that guy.
I'm so sorry for your loss.

Such a beautiful obituary, such a great man! I especially am grateful to Herb for helping to teach my son to work, and to work hard. He taught him that if anything was worth doing, it was worth doing well. He will be sorely missed. We're so grateful for his legacy, his humor and his family. We love you Jane, Monika and Malakai!

Jane, we love you!
We are so saddened to hear of Herb's passing. He is truly one of my heroes in this life. Being able to serve with the two of you and all of my other heroes as Church Hosting missionaries was one of the greatest blessings I could have. Thank you! I will miss his mortal friendship, his wisdom and wit, his help and encouragement freely given and his love. Knowing the two of you and the other Conference Center heroes in my life will forever be a huge part of me. I'm glad he got to meet Tina! We hope to see you Thursday night. Regrettably, we will be unable to attend Herb's service.
Please know we rejoice in the celebration of Herb's mortal life and mission, continuing to admire him and knowing that he is doing well where he is now, serving others yet again. Yes, we love you!

Dear Jane and Family,
So sorry to hear about the loss of a wonderful man, husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed. I have many fond memories of traveling with you both while in Germany, and the joy he brought to our conversations. Know you are loved, and that my thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope I can touch bases with you when I come down for conference.
Keep the faith, be strong, and know that you have the Lord's arms wrapped around you at this difficult time.
With love,
