Dear Aunt Marie and Family,
A lot of memories have been swimming in my head this week since I learned of Uncle Herb's passing. My thoughts and prayers have been with each of you.
Since I was a little girl, our trips to Newburgh have always been special. When I was young, I remember we'd wend our way through all these little towns, stopping at a diner in Carmel for a quick cup of coffee. It was before I-84 was complete and the trip from CT seemed long.
Crossing the bridge always prompted my mom to take out her hair curlers and put on extra lipstick. Then there was the "be on your best behavior" speech and my parents would ask each other, "Who's house do we stop at first?" Most of the time, it was your home. No offense to my other cousins, but I can honestly say that your house was always my favorite place to go!
Your home was always filled with so much life and laughter. Maybe I liked it because Lori, Eric and I are all the same age and we had so much fun playing. Perhaps it was the sound of the grown-ups playing cards and laughing into the night on those occasions we'd stay over night. I don't know....
I do know that Uncle Herb was a great man. That twinkle in his eye, mischievous grin and chuckle will stay with me always. That "Mason" look is something all you "kids" have. You also have your Dad's zest for life.
Herb loved life and he lived it well. He will be missed by so many.
I love you all and feel blessed to be part of your family.
May God give each of you strength and peace in the days ahead.

Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

Dear Marie and to your family,
We go back many years, but I still remember the good times, when we had to get baby sitters to go out on Saturdays nights, or get together to play cards at each others houses. Herbie was such a great guy, alway fun to be with and would always run to you if you needed help.
Stay well, Marie and let the good memories help you cope. Pease accept my sincere sympathy.
