Herbert Temple Obituary
Lieutenant General Herbert R. Temple Jr. passed away December 29, 2024, in Palm Desert, California at the age of 96. He will be remembered as a strong and decisive leader steeped in the Army tradition of duty and devotion to service.
A Korean War veteran, he faithfully served seven presidents, culminating his career under President Ronald Reagan as Chief, National Guard Bureau, being awarded multiple Distinguished Service Medals and numerous national and international awards. There are six Army centers named in his honor nationwide.
He has peacefully passed into the next life to be reunited with his beloved wife, Pat. Funeral services will be held on January 24, 2025, 12:00 noon, in the chapel at Forest Lawn Memorial Mortuary, Cathedral City, California.
